How Do You Tune a Ukulele?

The ukulele tuner above will help you get your ukulele in perfect tune! But how do you use it? Follow the steps below to get your ukulele in tune.

Unlike other stringed instruments, ukuleles are not tuned highest to lowest. Instead, the lowest string (the C-string) is in between the higher G-string and E-string.

  1. To start tuning, begin with the C string. Press “Play” next to C above to begin playing the tone.
  2. Loosen the string first and then begin tightening while plucking the string until the pitch is the same as the one you hear. If the pitch sounds like it’s getting further away, turn the other way. Caution: Don’t overtighten! Turning the pegs too tightly can lead to the string breaking. Instead, rotate it a few millimeters at a time.
  3. Repeat for the remainder of the strings.
